Satan locked in abyss or is he roaming about seeking to devour someone?

Firstly, the scripture in 1 Peter 5:8 speaks of Satan being like a"roaring lion seeking to devour someone"-which he is doing right now. Soon, that 1000yr period will take place when the 144,000 will rule as "kings" with Jesus, and Satan will be captured and "thrown" into the abyss for that thousand year period. Next, saten will be "let loose for a little while" to mislead the nations" for the last time. Once again he will be like that "roaring lion" when he has been let loosed. Then he will be destroyed.See Rev 20: 1-10. And as to the keys of the abyss, the abyss is like a jail, and the keyholder is Jesus, himself. If Satan is to be the one locked up, then a lawful angel needs to have the keys to the "jail" or abyss. And that angel is Jesus himself. Makes sence, really. Why give the key to Satan when he can let himself out? So, Jesus is the keyholder. Keith

Hi, all. Now to the answer of the question" when will the Great Tribulation occur". Still looking at Rev 7, in verses 16+17 it does state that the Great Crowd (or multitude) (after comming out of the Great trubulation) will "hunger no more nor thirst no more...And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes". This is the same as Rev 21:1-3 "and God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.....The FORMER things have passed away". Seeing that death is to be the LAST enemy (before Jesus hands back the whole Kingdom to Jehovah (1 Cor 15:24-28), the end is when death is no more. Saten is to be the second to last "enemy" to be compleatly destroyed. And he cannot be destroyed until he has been let "loosed for a little while" Rev 20:3 and verses 7-10. So, with all this scriptual evidence, the Great Tribulation will occur near the end of when Satan has been let "loosed for a little while" Once Saten and death have been compleatly destroyed, everything will be handed back to Jehovah, and then the Resserection of the righteous ones that have been written in the "Book of Life" will take place so everyone existing at that time will have everlasting life. But they can only have everlasting life by continuing eating from the "trees of life" and the "waters of life". Rev 21:6, 22:1- which will not be a problem seeing that we may bathe and swim in the rivers every day. And if we do think about it, Satan will give all he has got seeing that this will be his LAST TIME to mislead those ones living at that time. (ones living from the 1000yr period and the ressurection of the unrighteous ones) For it does state that the "REST of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ENDED" Rev 20:5. So, ALL earthly resserections are to occur AFTER the 1000yrs. During the Great Tribulation, all faithful ones will be killed, and all "half hearted" ones will be captured in case they may change their minds at the last minuite-which will be instant death. Once all the faithful ones have been killed, Saten and all his loyal ones will be destroyed- or just returned back to the dust and with Saten put in the Abyss.This is why the King of the North and King of the South will play their part at this time. See Dan 11:44+45 and Dan 12:1-3. And, as a final note, everyone has to die that has been written in the "book of life". We have to enter back to the ground in order to be ressurected as a perfect human. See Rev 20:12+13 and 1 Cor 15:35-42. In this sense this is how people are saved. All faithful ones recorded in the Bible have died but they also have been saved by their future ressurections.This is how the ransom sacrifice of Jesus takes place. His perfect dust that he sacrificed is kept secret on this earth somewhere, ready to be activated by Jehovahs Holy Spirit so that the "New Earth" can be formed. NOTICE OF APOLIGY. My humblest apoligies to you all.I mentioned earlier that it was Judge Rutherford that had started the 606bc to 1914ad. I have just got a copy of the Revelation book and on page 105 states that "The bible is clear and strong that the "times of the Gentiles" is a period of 2520 years, from the year B.C.606 to and including 1914."- Studies in the Scriptures, Vol 2, written by C.T.Russell and published in 1889, page 79. So I was wrong to say that it was Judge Rutherford that started the 606 to 1914, when it was C.T.Russell. However, I do know that C.T.Russell did use the "chart of the ages" from the Great Pyramid towards his calcalations. And later on Judge Rutherford could not use the pyrimid any longer- but based it on the book of Danial. Once again, I apoligise. keith.

Answer for yaddayaddas question. From the history found so far. C.T.Russell predicted the 1914 time from the Great Pyramid of Egypt. We all can look on Ebay canada and see the books being sold with his books with a fold out chart called "Plan of the Ages". If anyone has got a "Proclaimers" book at home (history of Jehovahs Witnesses) turn to page 139, the brothers in India has this chart in the background.The picture was taken in 1915. C.T Russell predicted that Jesus second comming for the 1000yrs would start in 1914 on earth. In 1915 he was very upsept that Jesus did not arrive. Then he said that Jesus comming was to be an invisable one in 1914. His death was in 1916. His lawyer, later known as Judge Rutherford took over as president of the WT. Some years passed and seeing that the Pyramid idea has its pagan Egyption ideas (reincarnation, eg.) the 1914 could not hold water anymore only that WW1 happened. After looking at scriptures, he found the "seven times" in Daniel. The rest is history. keith

(in jw minds) it seems to me they believe the 'gates of hell' have prevailed.

This is an easy one. We all admit that at one time that Saten had control over one heaven.(for there are more than one heaven. See Gen 1.) So, when he was thrown down, could we all imagine the destructive influance that he had towards the angelic forces. Today, we see the influance that he has on man to slowly destroy all the God has made. The same effect would of happened in heaven where Saten has been responsable for. We do not know of what damage that Satan has done to the invisable heavens. Since he has been thrown out of heaven, Jesus is therefore repairing the damage that Saten has done. When he has finished most of the invisable repairs, then he will consentrate on the earth. But first, Satan has to be removed from the earth and thrown into the Abyss. See Rev 20 1-3. Of course, Jesus cannot repair everything. That is why it is written "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth" Only Jehovah can do the complete repairwork. Keith

All i know is that Rev 20;1 speaks of an angel having the key to the abyss seizeing saten and throwing him in. Seeing that all other angels are equal to saten in creation and strength, the only stronger one to seize him would be Jesus himself. Verse 3 does state that he hurled him in. I am sorry to say to every one that Abaddon is Jesus, as he responsable to hold the keys to the abyss, and has the authority over it. Jesus has been called other names, such as Michael. If it is true that Abaddon means Destroyer, then do we all not believe that on earth Jesus will return and that he will destroy all the wickedness and evildoers soon? See also Rev 1:18. Keith

for some time last night i studyed the scriptures concering the 70 years talked about in the bible.i was up untill 5 am.i looked at the scripture jeremiah were it says concering these nations they will have to serve babylon 70 years now at first glance it seems to say that its not only refering to the jews in exile it seems its talking about babylon given 70 years to rule over the nations.but it if we look at verse 17 it names the nations its talking about read for your selfs

Hi all. I also have been into this subject as my mum asked me to look into it. These are my findings. According to all historiens, Nebuchadnezzar ruled from 605bce. Jer 25:1 states that this was the first year of rulership of his as the king of Babelon. Jer 32:1+2 states that this scripture was written in the "eighteenth year" of his rule.The scripture also states that Jerusalem was under siege. 605bce minus 18yrs = 587bce. The temple was destroyed in 587bce. 587bce minus 70yrs is 517bce. According to records, the SECOND TEMPLE was built from 538bce to 515bce. As to when the temple was first used before its FINAL compleation I do not know. But the dates 517bce and 515bce are pretty close as to the end of the 70 years. HISTORY.....After the destruction, records showed even though the jews and Isrealites fled when the temple was destroyed, a few Isrealites were allowed to stay in Judah as they were succomed to the Babelonion ritules of the time. When the Medes and Persions defeated the Babelonions in 538bce, two years later, Ezra was allowed to take back the Jews living in Babylon by Cyrus the Mede. When they finally arrived, they found the few Isrealites that stayed and the Samaritions. When the remaining Isrealites arrived after, they found the Jews and Samaritions argueing over the land.( and records show that there were other smaller religious groups which had similar teachings.) With all this argueing going on, nothing was been done about rebuilding the second temple. This is probebly why it took such a long time to build. It is also intresting to note that in Jer 25:11, it clearly states that DURING the 70yrs, they were to "serve the KING of Babylon". We know that Nebuchadnezzer was king at the time, also there were his successers after as kings of the Babylon empire. Then it was Cyrus the Mede who took the city of Babylon from the Babylonions, so HE ruled as king of Babylon. So, in all, the seventy years was when the first temple was destroyed to the second one that was built for its usage for worship. 587bce to 517bce. And during this time that they had no temple to worship in, they were to "serve" all the kings of Babylon for 70yrs. So, the temple was destroyed in 587bce- not 607bce. Keith.

WOW! A lot of persons responding to this post! Hi PMJ. I am glad that you responded to my post.To the answer to your question, according to page 23 para 8 (WT NOV 15 2005)it states there that "At Hosea 7:4. the people are likened to "a furnace", or bakers oven.evidently because evil desires were burning within them". The picture to demonstrate this has a picture of either a "furnace" or a "bakers oven". But, at the WT meeting, a second GOOD look at the picture actually shows a fire breathing dragon- looks like Godzilla. And this dragon is breathing out fire from its mouth and surrounded with fire. When i got home I looked and i looked at this picture just in case i was imagining things. But the dragon is still there. Before i went to sleep that night, the help by the Holy Spirit had let me know that there are MORE images in the picture. Then i fell to sleep. The next morning (realising that the artist of this picture may have included a half of a picture in it), I had another look at it (by the use of a small mirror) to find there are now TWO different looking wild beasts.The first wild beast has been used twice, while the other "cartoonish" wild beast (all the fire in the background) has been used once.And because they are standing at close quarters, it looks like that they are having sex.Even on the nose is another demonistic face.If you check out the far left bottom corner, there is half a face of a monkey with a pointed ear. To get the two beasts to show up, create a "mirror" image by putting it against the right hand "piller" type fire thats on top of the fire (looks like a chimminy pot) and have the edge of the mirror comming straight down the page. A computer and printer works better doing this. Print out the picture to cover an A4 size piece of paper and print out a "mirror picture" out as well. Stick them both together at the edge of the chimminy pot to revel the two beasts. There are other smaller images or faces. If you are BRAVE enough to get back to me, I can tell you that more satinic images in the "knowladge" book, the "live forever" book and only last week I found more satinic images in the "Draw Close To Jehovah" book. Once you do find them, then you will know the the "Son of destruction" is sitting in the "temple of The God" and has now revealed himself. 2 Thess 2:3+4. And a small note, the "son of destruction" is NOT the "faithful and discreet slave", but it is the Governing Body as these are TWO SEPERATE groups of persons in the WT headquaters in Brooklin. Dear PMJ. I can understand how you feel about the matter, but you have to understand how hurt some may feel. Some stories of how they have been treated by brothers and the orginazation that I have heard hurts me deeply, and we can imagine how Jehovah feels when there has been an injustice done. For the scriptures do pinpoint that "lawlessness" would apply to the congregations worldwide. See Matt 7: 21-23. But I tell you what, take a look at the picture in the WT that we are studying for this week and have a good look at the picture of the furnace that we had last weeks study. And tell me what do you see. When you get back at this site, let me know what you see from the picture and I will let you know what I see. Others can join in if they want. hi everyone.. i'm keen to read more books about jw's.

i've so far only read crisis of conscience but now have the appetite.i'd be more interested in the background of the organisation and what kind of people russell and rutherford were etc, but i'd also like to read any "apostate" exposes, especially ex elders.

Dear PMJ. I am too a Jehovahs Witness, and at first I did not believe in the 586bc time either. So, as 1 John 4:1,5+6 states that "do not believe in every inspired expression, but test the inspired expression to see if they origianate with God". So, what I did was to go to the public liberary or look in a Encyclopedia in my local bookshop.The internet has some Encyclopedia sites. The best free one is Wikipedia. This site explains EVERY event that happened at the time. Did you know that the Jews were thrown out of Jeruselem in 597bc for pagen worship and returned back in 537bce because Cyrus The Mede said that they could? And it was the Isrealites who fled in 586 when the Temple was destroyed? And not all Isrealites fled upon the destruction of the temple, due to the fact that they wanted to resort to worshipping false Idols that the Babeloneions had? And it was Ezra that brought back the Jews ( now 14,000 in number) from Babelon in 537bce? And when the Isrealites returned (what was left of them) (70 years) they found the Jews and Samaritans verbely fighting over the land.And we will not be sure if all the Israelites returned at the 70years due to the fact that some may have decided to stay where they fled to and to continue worship there. The Isrealites eventually fazed away, but the Jews grew stronger. My only advice to to follow what 1 John says, and dont only look up WT items for the answers,-they will only support each other.
